Welcome to the year 2019 of Jung Il woo’s professional life. What a come back year this has been! He did so much!
This year started with full promotion for his new drama Haechi. Trailers, interviews, posters Oh Haechi! The drama aired on February 11 and was in first place in the ratings in its allotted time for its entire run! This drama wasn’t over when the first issue of his magazine Kribbit was published. A gorgeous magazine where Jung Il woo shared his passion for travel, fashion, art, cooking and Na Mun-hee!
A very sad news came in April when he shared with us that his pet A-woo died. Jung Il woo soldiered on and completed the filming of Haechi successfully. As soon as it was over, Jung Il woo left South Korea to clear his mind and find balance by walking “El Camino de Compostela.” all the way from Lisbon, Portugal into Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This is a famous Christian pilgrimage route that leads to the relics of one of the apostles of Jesus: St. James the Great.
After this trip, he spent time with his fans in three Fan Meetings, two in Japan and one in South Korea. I had never been in a Fan Meeting before, so I have nothing to compare it to. All I can tell you is that I saw a man who was so kind that he tried to make every one of his fans feel special. He made us so happy!
After this he traveled some more and then started filming an animal documentary called Wild Map. This took him camping for the first time and to many beautiful places like Jeju Island where he hung out with scientists and learned about different animals. And as if this was not enough, he also created his very own fragrance which he called “his” and sold as an air freshener. It feels like you are in a forest every time you spray it!
In October, we were so happy to find out he would be in a cooking show called “Convenience Store Restaurant” and he would also be coming back to the theater in a play: The Elephant Song. We then spent every week drooling over the delicious dishes made by him and the rest of the cast of the show. (We still are as it carries on into next year!)
Then Jung Il woo shared all his love during the Christmas Season. He held a Bazaar where he sold many personal items including clothing, shoes and accessories. There was also an auction online where you could buy other important items like the camouflage coat he wore in Flower Boy Ramen Shop. All the proceeds went to charity. And this sweetheart spent his 24th volunteering at a preschool! Yes, Ilwoo gave so much of himself to others… so good to see him be of service.
Thank you for all your hardwork Ilwoo, as fans we couldn’t be better cared for!
