Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t seen this show and plan to, don’t read this post!
What was the first thing I did this morning? Yes! Check if the subtitles were available in Viki-Rakuten-Kocowa for Il-woo’s first guest appearance in “My Little Old Boy.” And they were! Of course I watched it…
In this show there are 5 mothers of celebrities, including Kim Jong-kook’s mom! (muscular guy from Running Man). Then there are two male hosts and the guest celebrity sits between them and across the mothers. The host prompt questions, which judging by the yellow papers in front of Il-woo and the hosts, they have agreed on. This is Kim Jong-kook’s mom:
Il woo introduced himself bowing and then being the sweetheart he is gave them all a Lunar Year gift: Tea and chocolates:
In this show there were six parts where Jung Il-woo talked about his personal life…
Part 1) He talked about his sister. I was surprised by this as he never had really talked about his sister before in any show. Among the things he said related to her were:
- She is 38 years old and is not married.
- Wherever she goes with him, people know by her looks that she is his sister.
- She lived abroad (in China) for 10 years
- She is a fashion designer and she has a boutique.
- She likes to drink.
He also said that his family loves to eat noodles.
Remember the lady protecting him during his Military Discharge Day on the way to the van? That’s his sister. She is in a lot of photos from past events in China… if you look carefully at the photos. You can tell they get along well… they are together a lot! I don’t post anything about her, because I heard from a reliable source that he doesn’t like it. He is very protective of his sister just as she is of him…
Part 2) He talked about Lee Min-ho. He mentioned how they went to different High Schools and they were across from each other. And though he wasn’t in his same school, he was very famous so he heard about him in his school. He also said:
- Lee Min-ho does not like to drink, and he now likes it a bit (he can have two glasses), so when they met it was usually in Cafes.
- Min-ho and him are very different, so when he was younger, Il-woo had a hard time understanding Min-ho and would ask himself…Why doesn’t he like this? And as time has gone by and he is in his 30’s, he has learned to appreciate their differences.
Update 2-21-19, Found a video with subtitles of this part:

Part 3) He talked about his first kiss. He said he was very introverted when he was young so he had a hard time making the first move, so the girl gave him a peck…and that was his first kiss.
Part 4) Talked about how since he was a kid he loved fashion. His mom would find him in the bathroom using water to comb his hair slick when he was little. He also enjoyed picking his clothes and laying them out and finding shoes to match them. And he spends some of his money on clothing regularly.
Part 5) He still lives with his parents. He says he wants to move out, but he also mentioned that when he works, it’s hard for him to cook.
Part 6) He lost 14 Kgs. in 3 -4 weeks in preparation for his role in Haechi. He talked about replacing rice and carbs with sweet potatoes. And he also mentioned eating eggs and chicken and working out a lot.
WITAT
I love Il-woo in reality shows. He is so down to earth, and he is very comfortable talking about himself. You can see how he’s matured over these past years and is more confident. I’m pretty sure he would make the move if he wanted to kiss a woman now!
I understand him in living a home still with his parents…especially when he is away from home so often, it just makes sense to be at his parents for the feel of a real home when he gets back. And he eats delicious food made by his mom and spend time with his family. He is very Latin American in this way. Most Latin American leave the nest when they marry. If they don’t they stay with their parents. Though in big cities and with more ability to move around for jobs, and the fact that people marry older, unmarried people moving out after their college years is becoming more common.
It was so good to watch him in this… I feel I know him a bit more. And it warmed up my morning…it snowed here last night. I’m glad it’s February Break! I get a break from working at school…
