WITAT

Blue sky…we need blue skies for a little nation in South America called Venezuela.  This is the country where I was born and that made me most of who I am today.  For 15 years?  Venezuela’s resources have been spilt, bringing poverty and ignorance.  Today the people of Venezuela after three months of protests will seek to win in a plebiscite against the current government that seeks to change the constitution to get complete political and judiciary control of Venezuela. 500 people would decide the fate of all Venezuelans instead of it being all Venezuelans!!!  All their liberties would be stripped away.   Please send Venezuela good energy and support.  May goodness and freedom to be and create prevail in one more nation of this Earth!  Come on blue skies!  Come on Mr. Blue Sky!

It is so excruciating having to watch the nation where one was born crumble in this manner.  Am I to be separated forever from the remainder of my family that lives there? The rest of my family was lucky to get out of there and now resides in 5 nations: USA, Spain, Germany, Panama and…Venezuela.  Sometimes it doesn’t feel so lucky…but I know I should be thankful!  I am… I am so grateful!

Jung II-woo… thank you for being my blue sky in this hour of uncertainty and anxiety clouds.  You always save my head!

This was the date that “Take Care of the Young Lady” aired on.

Jung II-woo plays Lee Tae-yoon, the son of a rich family, who has decided to not follow in his family business.  He is a human rights lawyer and working in a modest office, he looks to defend and represent clients who are powerless and abused by big companies.  He works alongside a close friend, Su-ho.  While trying to solve a client’s problem with Kang San Group, he arranges to go on a “matching date” with Kang Hye-na, the female lead played by Yoon Eun-hye.  For complete episode descriptions that include photos check out Drama Beans.

Watching this drama took patience. Because Jung II-woo was second lead, it took a while for him to appear in the drama (for example he is not at all in episode 1) and only appears a few times in Episode 2. It does get better by Episode 3 when he is in the screen a bit more.  But the wait is so worth it!  He looks so preppy handsome, healthy and clean!   Ready for photos?  Here they are. Cr. MBC

For some reason I love this sequence on the phone…I guess it gives me a glimpse of how Jung II-woo can be well like the rest of us… and he looks so cute!  The pout…!                   Cr. MBC & DCILWOO (이태유?)

It’s too soon to give my thoughts on this drama and Jung II-woo.  So I’ll just comment a few things, looking at these episodes.

First thing I want to comment is that I like the concept of someone like Lee Tae-yoon.  Someone who turns their back on a rich family to help those in need…how noble!  Another Robin Hood role? And second and last, the fight in the third episode brings happy memories of Yoon-ho from Unstoppable High Kick.  Sometimes Tae-yoon is a more polished preppy version of Yoon-ho!

The show “Happy Together” (airing for 16 years and counting!) has been hosted by various entertainers, of which one very recognizable is Yoo Jae-suk.  He is very well known for “Running Man.”  Jung II-woo appeared along with Yoon Eun-hye, Yoon Sang-hyun,  and Moon Chae-won in this variety show’s Season 3, Episodes 110 & 111.  The episodes aired on August 19, and 20th. They are hilarious!!!  And I’m happy to report I found every bit of it subtitled to English…almost!  So get ready to laugh…and laugh!  Jung II-woo looks simply adorable …at one point he has a watermelon on his head!

Before many K-dramas are broadcast, it is a common practice to hold a Prayer  Ceremony to wish its success.  These is a video and photos of the the ceremony held for “Take Care of the Young Lady.”

I found a video of the ceremony!  It’s very interesting to watch…I wish it had captions in English!

Right after the Ceremony, the cast and crew were treated by Yoon Sang-hyun fans to hot soup!  That’s right HOT soup!  During the hottest days of the year, something referred to as “sambok” days, people believe that eating a Samgyetang is really good for your health.  Remember Samgyetang from a previous post?  It is a chicken stuffed with rice and spice soup in which there is ginseng.

I am not sure if on this day Yoon Eun-hye fans also treated the crew to cold drinks and lunch.  Jung II-woo?  Jung II-woo fans were the first to treat the crew to dduk (rice cakes) and snacks earlier in the month while commemorating Ilwoo’s thousandth day in the business.

Jung II-woo in turn gave the cast and crew 150 shirts to show his gratitude.  It was a really hot summer and in Jung II-words: “In this constant heat and tight filming schedule, the ones suffering the most are the staff.  I prepared this gift with a thankful spirit as we all hope for a successful run for the drama.”

I thought this is quite a beautiful tradition until I watched the video and saw the pig head. Is there a need for that really…? I understand it when it happened you know like 400BCE, but in 2009?  Maybe I’m over sensitive because I just watched Okja? It upset me a lot…

Jung II-woo had many interviews during this time as “Take Care of the Young Lady” was about to air.  These photos belong to an interview that was done by Star News.   I also included the Teaser video for this drama in this post after the photos.  Interestingly enough Jung II-woo wore a lot of plaid and gingham shirts in the drama “Take care of the Young Lady.”   He looks quite “Preppy and pretty!”

WOOOOWWWWW!  Is all I can say about this photo shoot and video!  In the video the camera person gets a super close up take of Jung II-woo’s face…it is so…so…perfect!  You can even see a bit of his mustache line…which you barely can ever see. What a treat the smile at the end. I probably have said this many times but…I have to again! He is so sweet!

Jung II-woo had various interviews as the premiere of the drama”Take Care of the Young Lady” came closer.  This Interview is really good.  It is from Star News, and was republished by Drama Beans.  This is a part that I really like, it shows how resilient Jung II-woo is:

“Were you disappointed with the ratings for your previous drama, Return of Iljimae?

It was my first lead role, so at first I felt some pressure. After it began airing, though, I relaxed. I also grew more stubborn and wanted to work even harder.

At the time, my mother told me, “You’re still young, and if you lose confidence because of falling ratings or look unhappy on the film set, you can’t continue in this work. It’s a fight with yourself.”

I put my utmost into filming the drama through the last scene. I have no regrets. It’s a drama where I learned a lot of things as an actor, so I am really grateful to director Hwang In-roi.”
