Note: Just got into Boston last night from my trip to Spain…so I’m pretty jet-lagged, please pardon any atrocity to the English language… I did want to do this today as the weekend looks busy!
Do you remember when Jung II-woo enrolled in Hanyang University? Well it was back on March 3rd of 2008! That means it took him almost 6 years to complete his degree. This speaks volumes about Jung II-woo’s hardworking and resilient personality. In spite of being so busy and famous, he finished his college degree. He also studied English and passed the TOEIC test. A double feat!
I will first post videos and then the photos I found. He looks so happy! As he should be! The one with his parents is so sweet! C. Various! Enjoy!
Do you want to know what he says in that interview? Here it is:
Q. What was your impression of graduation?
Il: Although I graduate for the first time in almost 6 or 7 years, my memory of my student life will revive like a running lamp. It is very nostalgic. I got an English test with enthusiasm for graduation. TOEIC also passed, but I think that it was a memorable thing that it was hard work. I think that I would like to become Jung Il who is proud of Hanyang University in the future.
Q. What are you planning to eat chajang noodles?
Il: I made a reservation. I will go to a Chinese restaurant. I am going to eat with my family and acquaintances. After all, on the day of graduation ceremony, I should eat chajang noodles.
“Chajang noodles.” I found out these are noodles that come from Chinese tradition and have been very well received in Korea. People eat them in occasions like Valentine’s Day, White Day and I guess graduations too.
I know right? Yummm!
I also found THIS great article about this dish. On my list!

And this is from a fan present at that special moment:
And talking about fans, these were a loving group of Taiwanese fans that coverd him with love and gifts:
WITAT
What a great accomplishment! It shows how humble, disciplined and hardworking Jung II-woo is. Not easy to do in the world of entertainment he walks in… and at the age he did it. Most young men would say… Oh I’m already great! I don’t need to learn anything from an university! It takes a wise person to know that learning is never… ever done… and just when you think you know something another whole page in the book of knowledge opens up! One must feed the mind as one feeds the body.
So… I wonder… what are you learning about now? What is delighting you?
