Today was a WOOnderful day! A day when the youth of many countries walked out of school and spoke out about Climate Change and the future of Earth. I participated along with my students of Fifth and Sixth grade and colleagues at the Boston’s City Hall Plaza. We created signs, we chanted and we high fived a lot of people… and we felt part of the most important movement on this planet today. My favorite moment was when a group of Fifth graders decided to hug a tree while we waited to cross the street! It was so filled with spontaneity and love. The kind of moment you know you are where you are meant to be!
This movement was started by a very unique 16 year old, her name: Greta Thunberg. You can see a great video about her and how it all started for her when she was 11 years old HERE.
This is a video that she made along with George Monbiot (another activist):
It is simple… it is taking the side of the Earth, thinking about what one can do… no matter what your field of work.
Here are the photos I posted of Jung Il-woo wearing green… for real!
And these are some photos and videos I took at the Climate Change Strike today:
Walking back to school we were High Fived by people on their way to the strike. You can hear me laughing and talking with very little voice… because I have a cold!
This was the jacket I wore today… I painted this on it about three years ago… the perfect ocassion to wear it!
And this was a newspaper I saw after…
For as long as I live… This hand will do all it can for children and for the beautiful planet that is their right to inherit well to live in… and for …
the prince that is always with me! 🙂
Now it’s our turn adults… bring on the UN Summit and let’s make things happen!!! Or do children have to march in there too and do what you can’t do? Well I guess Greta already marched in there…!
