It is such a sweet gesture that Jung II-woo chooses to celebrate his birthday with his fans.  This year he celebrated his 22nd year of life (Korean years). For this Fan Meet / Birthday, Jung II-woo was serenaded by a singer called Big Mama King (BMK), he made some gimbap (I think!) and of course opened gifts and blew the candles of his cake!

There are so many photos!  Cr. DCIlwoo and Daum Cafe Ilwoostory.  As you see them there is a very short video of him in the cooking part… and then at the end there are two videos of BMK.  The first one is called “Just Friend” and it features Dynamic Duo.  Remember?  They were the group that Jung II-woo sang with in his previous birthday!  The second one I have no idea what it is about…but it sounded really beautiful so…

A newspaper from Annandale Minnesota in the USA?  What?!!!  I don’t have time right now…but maybe there is a large Immigrant Korean population there?

WITAT

Something that I think is amazing happened to me yesterday.  I am an elementary Spanish teacher…and I was asking one of my Second graders when her birthday was in Spanish.  I have taught my students to count using their fingers up to 10 and then many clues to remember higher numbers.  As she was counting very quietly…I noticed that she would stop at 8…somehow the couldn’t remember 9…and don’t ask me how I knew…but I figured her birthday was on the 9th…just like Ilwoo’s.  And … it was!!!  It made me so happy!

Something even more amazing is that the two people I love the most in this world have September birthdays!  My mother’s is on the 8th!  and my son’s is on the 11th!  So when this time in the year comes, now with Ilwoo’s on the 9th…it is very special!  It’s like that energy of these people I love so much is concentrated at this time of the year.

Wow…I just called to cancel my son’s dental appointment and the receptionist just told me her birthday was a day before my son’s…the 10th!  This is getting creepy!

 

August and September 2008

In September there are various photos found of Jung II-woo going to Japan to film Iljimae.  Iljimae the character, travels to China and Japan in his life where he learns different martial arts.  The production company and director decided to film in Taiwan and Japan, to capture some of the different scenery and give the series a more realistic look.

In Japan he visited Tsushima, and Island that is between Korea and Japan main land.  a place with gorgeous natural scenery.  You will see photos of Jung II-woo in Ichiraku, a port town you can get to via Ferry from Busan, Korea.

Ha!  Just found out who they are!!!  (May 13, 2017)  So from left to right: Jung II-woo, Shin Seong-il a famous Korean actor that has appeared in like 500 projects!, Yoon Jin-seo and Kang Seok-hyeon, who is the son of Mr. Shin who works in the production company “GP workshop” that produced “The Return of Iljimae.”

Wait is that Iljimae there?  Just kidding!  But you can totally see him in any of these backgrounds…  gorgeous nature!

WITAT

Just finished watching “Goblin: The Lonely and Great God.”  Definitely one of my favorite dramas ever!  The cast… perfect.  The plot… divine. The music…enchanting.  The Scenery…gorgeous. It made me think a lot about life.  In that sense it’s a lot like 49 days. This one is a lot more romantic though. It made my heart ache for a love like that… a love that is true, that helps you grow, that comforts you and that makes you happy…

It also made me think how every moment of my life is truly precious and a gift.  Seeing my son’s beautiful face every morning, listening to my student’s voices, walking through the Public Garden, and even what I’m doing right now…every finger so perfectly placed so I can type these words…my hands…what a miracle!  Jung II-woo…what a gift it is that you exist!  To inspire me to know you…why? What a wonder…I’m so thankful!

Must sleep…for tomorrow awaits!

Jung II-woo ran in this really cool race that had around 20,000 participants in Seoul alone.  Nike + Human Race is a festival of young people that fuses 10 km running and concerts in 25 cities around the world on the same day.  Caracas, Paris, Madrid, London, New York , Melbourne, Tapei and Seoul, were some of the cities that participated in 2008. It was the largest global sports event on Earth opened for the general public to participate.

In Seoul, the Mayor at the time: Oh Se-hoon soul, the Taekwondo gold medalist Cha Dong Min, Im Sujeong, SK basketball team and other athletes also ran in the race along with Jung II-woo and other celebrities.

Before Jung II-woo was cast for “The Return of Iljimae” he had been cast for a drama called “Triple.”  He spent a lot of time learning to skate but sadly this production fell through.  Fortunately Jung II-woo was cast for The Return of Iljimae!   Jung II-woo felt a lot of pressure taking on this lead role, he wasn’t sure if he would be good enough to portray the character.  He worried a lot!  Some of his anxiety is reflected in his writing at this time.  You can read his words under the section “In his words.” July 30, 2008.

These photos are of a painting retrospective exhibit of the original creator and illustrator of Iljimae: Ko Woo-young (1938-2005).  Hwang In-roi, the director, Yoon Jin-seo, the leading actress and Jung II-woo attended it.  Photo Cr. On photos.

Jung II-woo had a cameo appearance in episode one as Lee Yoon-ho!  I imagine that for fans that had not seen him in a long time it must have felt like water after a walk in the desert!   How did he look?  Well take a look below.

This comes from his Cyworld account.  He wrote and posted all the photos you will see below.  He had the joy of attending a qualification match of South Korea for the World Cup of South Africa in 2010 and watching his nation win.

South Korea won the 2010 World Cup AFC qualification with 16 points – seven wins and seven draws in total!   In the 2010 World Cup they were placed in Group B. They won their first game against Greece 2-0, tied against Nigeria 2-2 but then lost against both Argentina 4-1 and Uruguay 2-1, and thus were eliminated.  (Inf. from Wikipedia)

This Festival held since 1993, showed a total of 52 plays this year by students and some professional companies in various stages.  Jung II-woo along with Go Ara were the hosts of the Opening Ceremony.  Numerous photos below.  Photo Cr. on photos.

Jung II-woo modeled for this clothing company with Go Ara.  The photo shoot is kind of weird…they actually take photos around and on top of a New York Police Car.  Jung II-woo looks very cute so…who cares!  Below is a video that shows Behind the Scenes takes of this photo shoot and an interview.
